Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.
Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
